

Participatory Mapping to Identify and Support At-Risk Communications in Emergency Preparedness

Summary:
Contract amendments were signed to translate instruments and test the preparedness app in a tabletop exercise. Community leaders helped evaluate and adjust the app, adding resources and correcting information. The project was presented at the CCDM International Conference on Disaster Medicine.
This initiative trained community leaders across various municipalities in emergency preparedness using a community-based training model. Topics included cultural competence, health literacy, and emotional recovery tools, among others.
Results:
Adjustments were implemented in the app, and a summary was presented at an international conference.
Impacted 69 participants, 58 of whom completed the six-module cycle. Participants reported significant improvements in preparedness knowledge.
